Keeping up Appearances

I had an amazing conversation with some of my loved ones, which served as a profound reminder that my understanding of who I am is intricately shaped by the perceptions and insights of those I trust and hold dear. This realization may strike some as shallow or unrealistic at first glance, but I have come to believe, based on my own experiences, that I am essentially a complex amalgamation of feedback from my surroundings, combined with the myriad events I have witnessed or actively participated in throughout my life. It is important to note that while pretending to be solely defined by what others say about you isn't necessarily a lie, it certainly does not encompass the entirety of your being. Each person you encounter—whether they play the role of FAMILY, FRIEND, COWORKER, ENEMY, LOVER, PARENT, PREDATOR, SAINT, CLOWN, or any other label—contributes to the multifaceted identity you embody, and these roles are significantly influenced by external factors and societal expectations. THE UNIVERSE IS INSIDE YOU, waiting to be explored and understood!

As you take a moment to contemplate the evolving version of yourself this year, I encourage you to engage in a deep and introspective reflection. Look into the metaphorical mirror that reveals not just your physical appearance, but the essence of who you are at your core—beyond the facades and the roles you play in the eyes of the world. This introspection is vital; if you find yourself reading this and feel a sense of authenticity, believing that you are indeed who you present yourself to be, then you are absolutely correct in that sentiment. Furthermore, if you harbor any thoughts or feelings about this post or about the encouragement to delve deeper within yourself, remember that YOU ARE RIGHT. Embracing the idea that everything you perceive holds a grain of truth—and that you are right about your perceptions—can profoundly influence how much you care about the narrative you choose to live by. Your story is yours to craft, and the more you acknowledge the truths within you, the more empowered you become to shape your identity and the way you interact with the world around you.
